Kupenda for the children

Children with disabilities in Kenya face more struggles than the average Kenyan or the average disabled person in a developed country. The children supported by Kupenda are often shunned by society and sometimes even their own parents. Some of these children have been abandoned, abused, hidden, or simply ignored because of their disabilities. There are some parents who send their disabled children onto the street to beg. If parents believe their child can be nothing but a beggar it is difficult for a child to be anything but a beggar. Therefore educating the parents and the children is very important.  That's why we have a  sponsorship program which sends children with disablities to school.  If you would like to sponsor a child please go to the sponsorship page.

Kupenda assists children regardless of their religion. Approximately 75% of the children in the Malindi district come from families that claim to be Christians. The other 25% include mostly Muslim with very few Hindu and those who practice traditional beliefs.

The children Kupenda assists have a variety of disabilities. Some will always be confined by wheelchairs without the ability to communicate. Others may one day be able to function just like children without disabilities when given proper treatment and education. If you would like to know more about the disabilities of the children Kupenda support please check our disabilities page
