Adequate Education

For just $4000 a year a special needs class of 10 children can receive adequate teaching. This figure represents the total cost of the best case situation. This includes teacher and teacher aid salaries, teacher training, and classroom learning materials for one classroom of 10 students. In Kenya the number of children in a class is much higher than previously mentioned due to short staffing, lack of teacher education and not enough learning materials. In Kenya an average classroom, of children with disabilities, has a student teacher ratio of about 30 to 1 and in the US the common rule is to have a 6 to 1 ratio with a teacher aid.
