Holiday Jewelry purchase to support Kupenda!
Kupenda has recently undertaken a crafts and jewelry project! Students at the Sir Ali and Gede Special Schools have begun making jewelry as both a recreation, as well as a way to develop skills for a future self-sustaining trade.
Beginning this holiday season, all of the jewelry and accessories created by the children will be available for purchase here Since the average person in Kenya earns $1.32 a day, your purchase can make a substantial difference in someone’s life. All proceeds will go directly to Kupenda’s work in Kenya. The money will be used to:
- Further resource the vocational training for the students; and to:
- Provide occupational therapy for the physically handicapped children to whom we support.
Although we did not know what to expect when the crafts were started, we have been surprised and delighted by the workmanship displayed by the students – and by the evident pleasure they have from their own work. We are committed to empowering our student artisans to be valued and contributing parts of the community, worthy of dignity and respect.
